I had been suffering from haemorrhoids for some years and my symptoms had become quite debilitating. These included frequent heavy bleeding and also incontinence. I had been referred for the standard surgical procedure on the NHS but a colleague who had the same procedure experienced a significant amount of pain following the operational and a very slow recovery resulting in him being absent from work for several weeks. I therefore ‘chickened out’ of having it done and continued to suffer the symptoms described above. I then discovered the Rafaelo procedure and referred myself to Mr Sayeed at the Alexandra in Cheadle. Despite finding that I had several very large haemorrhoids he was confident that the procedure would be effective and so it turned out to be. The procedure itself lasted around 15 minutes. I knew little about it as I was sedated. I did not experience any pain subsequently and although I did lightly bleed daily for around three weeks I was able to return to work within days of the procedure. My haemorrhoids have now shrunk to no more than skin tags. I no longer have any symptoms. I am totally delighted with the the outcome and I would highly recommend it to anyone suffering from the effects of piles. My insurance company, AXA PPP would not cover the procedure and therefore I paid privately. I am aware that Bupa and a couple of other insurers do cover the procedure. However even although I had to pay privately I believe it was very good value considering the benefits that have resulted.
After successfully undergoing the HALO procedure carried out by your good self I know I should make the time to explain how grateful I am to you for making such a significant difference to the quality of my life. Most pleasing has been how easily things have been corrected despite me having left it far too long before seeking your help.
I have suffered from very painful prolapsed thrombosed piles over the last three or four years, often going months with no problem and then being struck with an occurence usually at the most inopportune time. I am an active person juggling a busy working life with freelance activities as an outdoor instructor and it isn't funny working with the threat of problems like this especially when teaching an enthusiastic group of hardy outdoor enthusiasts. My life was put back on track via HALO surgery performed by Mr Mo Saeed at The Alexandra Hospital and with a small additional procedure earlier this year. Like many other people I now find who have this problem I had dreaded the possibility of a haemorrhoidectomy with its reputation of extreme pain and a very very long recovery time. This would most certainly have affected my business not to say my lifestyle. The HALO and further anoplasty took me just a few days to get over so that I could get back to my busy life and adventures. I would recommend the HALO procedure and Mr Saeed’s experience and kind disposition without hesitation to anyone who has these problems.
Having experienced a Haemorrhoidectomy and very recently undergoing the HALO procedure I can confirm that the HALO was by far the more comfortable of the two. The fact that I had an epidural rather than a general anaesthetic meant that not only did I recover more quickly from the procedure, but I did not feel nauseous and was able to eat within a very short time after returning from the operating theatre. I have no hesitation in recommending the HALO route to anyone suffering the embarrassing condition known as 'piles'. From my own experience I can say that it was a successful procedure with a speedy recovery and a minimum of discomfort.
I would like to take this opportunity to say how thankful I am to have received the HALO operation. Prior to this my condition caused constant discomfort and had an adverse impact on my daily life, as well as restricting my ability to participate in more outdoor and adventurous activities in which I would like to have engaged. I would thoroughly recommend that anyone suffering from the same condition should immediately go and get booked in for a HALO. The procedure was quick, effectively painless and had no significant residual pain or problems. I felt up to going jogging just two days afterwards. In my opinion the operation has been a complete success on all accounts.
